Homeless people in Contra Costa County are suffering under cold and wet conditions

Contra Costa government servants made a decision to “clear” out a homeless camp and other homeless rough shelters under roadway bridges in open space area of Concord at the border with Martinez.

This happened a few weeks ago , the effect on these people must be harsh, the weather has turn very cold, the entire country is experiencing cold conditions.

* TIMING: LATE TONIGHT INTO SUNDAY MORNING

* LOCATIONS INCLUDE: THE ENTIRE SAN FRANCISCO AND MONTEREY BAY
AREAS EXCEPT FOR THE CITY OF SAN FRANCISCO.

* IMPACTS: LONG DURATIONS OF BELOW FREEZING TEMPERATURES CAN
KILL CROPS AND SENSITIVE VEGETATION…HARM OUTDOOR PETS AND
LIVESTOCK…AND POSSIBLY CAUSE UNPROTECTED WATER PIPES TO
BURST. THERE WILL ALSO BE AN INCREASED RISK OF HYPOTHERMIA FOR
THOSE OUTSIDE OVERNIGHT.

I noticed the this updated warning includes the word those to refer to humans.

Shelter are full and some people just cant live in a shelter, because they have pets, don’t want to loss their limited property and social or mental issues.

What can we do?

Here is a start

Collect warm clothing , jackets, thick socks and warm hats, maybe a coffee card for a hot drink..
canned food, flashlights, backpacks and give them to the homeless
